Welcome to Block! Let’s get you setup so you can get to work right away. First, some ground rules:
- On Day 1, instructions will be sent to your personal email to set your initial password to your corporate login early in the morning.
- You will not be able to begin this process until you have recieved this email.
- You can optionally join IT Office Hours to get technical support from a member of our IT Team if you run into any questions. The Google Meet link for this onboarding session will be provided to you via onboarding communications.
🔑 Set your Okta password
Before setting up your new device, you need to set your initial Okta password using the link sent to your personal email.
- Check your personal email for the password setup link from mission-control@squareup.com.
- Open the link on your personal device (phone or personal computer).
- Follow the prompts to create your Okta password.
- Once your password is set, stop there — close the page and return to your Block laptop.
NOTE: Choose a strong password and remember it — you will need it during device setup.
IMPORTANT: After setting your password, Okta will automatically prompt you to set up a security method (MFA). Do NOT set up Okta Verify, FastPass, or any other security method on your personal device — just close the page. You will enroll your YubiKey as your security method on your Block laptop during setup.
🔐 Grab your YubiKey
During device setup, you will enroll your YubiKey (a small USB security key) as your phishing-resistant MFA method. Your YubiKey should have been included with your laptop — keep it handy!
