Shortly after you reach the desktop, a Welcome to Block, Inc. window will open on its own. This is Block's onboarding tool, macOS Automated Global Setup (MAGS) — it installs your required apps and walks you through the first few steps. If it hasn't appeared after a couple of minutes, make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi and wait a little longer.
Automated Setup
When the Welcome to Block, Inc. window appears, click Continue.
Check that your Full Name and Username are correct, then click Continue. If either is wrong, stop here and email mission-control@squareup.com before going any further.
Toggle on any apps you'd like installed straight away (for example Figma, Notion or Visual Studio Code). None of these are required — the full app catalogue is available in Managed Software Center once setup is complete. Click Continue.
Cloudflare One (WARP), Google Chrome, Okta Verify and Slack install automatically — this takes a few minutes. When all four show Completed, click Done, then Continue on the App Installation Successful screen.
While Cloudflare One (WARP) installs, Safari may open with a connection error. This is normal — close or ignore Safari and do not follow any prompts in the browser. The setup will continue on its own.
MAGS then shows a short introduction screen for Okta Verify, Google Chrome and Cloudflare One (WARP). Just click Continue on each one — the next pages of this guide walk you through setting up each app.
On the Thank You! screen, click Finish. You can start using your Mac now while the remaining setup continues in the background.
Managed Software Center
After you click Finish, Managed Software Center opens automatically and installs the rest of Block's required software. Leave it running — it will let you know when it needs you.
Look for the Managed Software Center icon in the Dock. If you don't see it, open Launchpad and click Managed Software Center to launch it manually.
Once the updates finish, you'll be prompted about a Forced logout for mandatory install. Click Log out and Update Now to let the installer restart your laptop.
Wait for any visual update activity to finish, then log in again using your Mac/Laptop Password. Open Managed Software Center and click Check again to confirm all updates are complete.
Your required apps are installed and Managed Software Center is up to date. Let's set up your apps.
